I recently used boiled linseed oil to finish a piece of mahogany furniture I made from a kit. It takes ages to dry but I was in no hurry. The kit makers recommended it. Mcqueenie Miniatures if you want to check it out. Buy boiled, don't boil it yourself

I have also used wood stain for the beams and floors in my bakery. (Thread "Millie's Bakery and Tea Rooms" in Home Sweet Home) in my case it was Coloron Jacobean Oak. Rustins wood stains are also good.
