Hello everyone ! I知 new to the forum and to the hobby . I知 on my second dolls house which is lake view . I致e been looking for inspiration on decor specifically the exterior but I can稚 seem to find that many lake view owners ? I知 curious as to getting a good external finish paint job wise mine never seem to look great. I知 also in need of colour inspiration . Was considering doing lake view a bit different maybe in pastel colours .... any advice would be appreciated!

Hello Dina003, and welcome.
Lake View looks like a lovely property and your pastel colours idea sounds great. I don't know if we are able to do pics yet, but it would be good to see some work in progress..
(I don't have any modern type properties, mine all look Tudor-ish, or vaguely old, as befits my fairytale world)

What is your first house like?

Hi thanks for the reply ! My first house is the DHE classical painted white with a black door. I actually cheated on that one as it was bought preloved and so pre painted etc . I tried a kit before and the vast amounts of painting coupled with the fact I never seemed to be able to get a smooth finish really put me off so I gave up . But I知 trying again with the lake view kit . Have you any tips on the painting ? I知 not sure how to post pictures ?

Are you talking about the exterior or interiors?
I'm no expert, but I tend to use emulsion sample pots for interiors and silk finish for exteriors, never gloss!

There used to be half a ton of tips and examples on this site but since the Great Disaster, I don’t know which are missing, unable to be restored I keep meaning to have a look round...
My album pics of Mab's End have disappeared, which is one where I decided to paint the plaster between beams on a tudorish house in a bright and inappropriate blue silk!

Most of my exteriors are either brick or stone effects, but I have one new to me “stucco” house which I am considering painting.... I shall use silk finish on that. Probably.

Hi Dina, Lake View is a great kit and fun to adapt too. I've done 3 so far. 2 of them at full height (That's with the garden room) and 1 as a basic two floors. I've never used the small mezzanine at the top mainly because I like the look of the double height room.

I don't seem to be able to post examples on this thread but I have a couple on my profile albums.
