Default Oxford House

Hi - its been sometime since I last visited (six years in fact!). Has anyone tried to build the Oxford House from Dolls House Direct. I'd love to exchange ideas.

My first house came from Doll's House Direct, and I was very pleased with the quality. It was a Georgian town house rather than this one though.

Looks fantastic, I'd be interested to see if anyone has this and what they did with it. I've been toying with the idea of some sort of spooky / gothic project for a while and I think this would look just right!

unfortunately some of the pieces aren't cut quite right which has caused a few problems but I'm working round them. I'm just building it very slowly and must say it will look fantastic when I've finished.

Oh, that's a shame. If you can work around them, I'm sure it will come out in the end.

I'd love to see some pictures - what are your plans for it?

At the moment its very much a shell as I've been concentrating on getting the floors installed. I've been making the floors out of craft sticks (I wish they sold them square ended!) which have been stuck with carpet tape onto card then stained. Just bought some extra stairs to go up to the top floor as when the kit was supplied they have the opening for the stairs but there are only two sets of stairs. When its eventually built I will be furnishing it as an emporium which gives me scope to do very different rooms. The two photos show the shell and the external parts. external parts.jpg

Great job so far! I love the emporium idea. My main project is a shop and it's great fun making all the tiny supplies - takes forever, but keeps me busy :-)

Do keep us posted on your progress.

Default Progress

I feel as if I've made some progress with the house now. As you will see from the photos I finished the floors (only photographed one of twelve) and the doors have gone on. I've also added some stained glass to the tops of the windows (acetate really).one floor.jpg
