Default Lead flashing but not lead

I'm working on my first build and want to add something to my roof that will look like lead flashing but not actually be made from lead.
The house will be used by children so lead is not an option.
Would some kind of air drying clay do the job if it was painted.
Any tips much appreciated.

Hi M,
When I simulated lead flashing I used copier paper cut in strips. I stuck it in place using pva glue and smoothed it down to the contours of the roof tiles with a brush further dipped in pva. When dry, I then used metallic paint mixed to a suitable lead colour. I think I just used silver and black, but just experiment to a shade you feel is about right. When dry, I painted over with varnish. Here's a piece of a roof I used this technique on.

Use card or whatever material you wish for the flashing, paint with Farrow and Ball N026 "Down Pipe"(I always use F&B Sample Pots)..Let this dry....Then using a soft lead pencil (Graphite) i.e. 5B and above, rub heavily on a piece of paper to create some dust....with your finger rub the dust scribble and transfer it onto your chosen piece and smooth in.. Because there is children in the house, I would then apply a light coat of water based poly varnish to seal.
Hope this helps
Regards C
