Angry Lighting and the screaming habdabs!!

We've got visitors tonight. A nice meal and some libation! So, with that in mind, I thought I'd check all the lighting in Hambleton Hall was working as I don't very often have it fully lit and because the darker nights are coming, it would be nice to see it in all it's glory.

What a mistake that turned out to be. I had everything lit and looking good but these little offenders (see pic below) have been giving me grief since day one and added to that, they're in the most awkward space to get to. They don't stay upright and I think it's because they're top heavy but I didn't want to go to the extent of permanently glueing them on. So.....I very calmly emptied the hall, twiddled the bulb, refixed the sticky on the back and put them in place, they wouldn't stick. This went on for about 10 mins until I lost patience and decided to hell with it, they were being glued on. They went back on the wall and blow me if the whole left hand side of the house's lights didn't go out. (I have one transformer for the right and another for the left). No fuse bulb came on to say that wasn't working. The real lamp that's plugged in to the same extension was working so it had to be the transformer. What a ******! Added to that, I must have fiddled with the hall light fittings so much that the wire broke and I now need to buy not only a new transformer but two new light fittings.

I'm sickened by the whole ruddy lot! The one night I wanted it all to work, it doesn't. All that money spent on the effect and when you want it to do what it's supposed to do - it doesn't. Scream...........!

Rant over - lol

Oh Irene what a shame - I know the feeling well though! Pour yourself a large glass of wine and just enjoy the food and company. They will still be impressed at your house

I really feel your pain - lights are such a nightmare. Hope you have a lovely evening anyway and Moonstrom is right, the house will look lovely even if it isn't fully lit.

Hello Sal,

I've just read the post over again - what a tantrum that was

I walked away in disgust, had a coffee and a cig and checked the lights in The Tearooms, The Tenement and Netherton - all is not lost. They work and yes, I nearly did cry earlier

Hello Moonstorm and Angie,

The visitors have seen the properties before - in fact they've followed the progress intermitently but I was so mad this afternoon when those lights went out it was as if a certain someone on high was being spiteful - I took it personally, lol.

Hello kittyslim

Yes, vodka is definitely the great cure all!! I'm sure YOUR lights will be fine - have you tried them out yet?

I hope you enjoy your night too (and if things are quiet at my end tomorrow, you'll know I've had too much medication - ha ha!)
