Hiya Nellie bly,

I think really it is personal choice, We have used both methods, my first house arrived with the basic copper tape already in it for the ceiling lights, all we had to do was add extras for the wall lights and sockets we wanted! We have used the wire method in all subsequent properties but in Ashworth Grange we will be using a combination of both but that is due to its size and possible move ability of this property in the future. The main house will be wire method but the basement will be copper tape.
Personally for us we have generally preferred the wire method but copper tape does have its advantages at times especially not having wires everywhere to sort out. The first property (copper tape) was done just over five years ago and still working fine for us although heavier lights do fall out the ceiling at times, might try those locking caps that were on that site I gave the other day to see if that improves that! My second property (wire method) has had a few glitches lol but subsequent ones have been fine.

I think it depends what you feel comfortable using on which method to use, of course with copper tape you have to wall paper over the tape including the ceilings as you can’t paint over it, found that out the hard way lol. Hope this helps a bit!
