Hever Castle is one of my favourite places along with Hampton Court, Henry VIII is one of my guilty pleasures. You will love it there I'm sure. Might have to get mr twirl to take me there, again ! It's not that far from us.

Default Museum of Childhood

I am currently restoring a Tri-ang Princess house and I work around the corner from the V&A's Museum of Childhood. I was luckily to get chatting with this woman in there who turned out to be one of the curators and I have been given access to the storage areas in February. There are apparently rows and rows of donated dollshouses. I am so excited

I find that really, really annoying that the V&A has rows and rows of donated dolls houses and THEY ARE NOT ON VIEW!............

I don't think people would bother donating them if they knew they were going to be stored away and never be seen by enthusiasts!

A couple of years ago, we went to the V&A and looked all round hoping to see my Uncle's donated collection of very expensive 'Biscuit Tins'. At first they couldn't find them, and then apologised and said they had found them but they were in storage and I would have to make an appointment to see them, regretfully I don't live near London, and have never managed to get back to this day!

He might as well have left them to me....at least I would have displayed them and enjoyed them!

So, I think they should stop accepting donations of people's treasured dolls houses, if they have no intention of letting us see them.

The best dolls house I have seen is in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Default V&A

I would rather the dollshouses been secured in storage when donated rather than end up on Ebay with all the fixtures and fittings being sold seperatlely. Yes its sad but at least they are being looked after. They do rotate the houses I believe.

I have rarely seen any dolls houses of any antiquity being sold on Ebay, nor the contents either.

There do seem quite a few sent to specialist auctions though, but they are not being sold at GIV E-AWAY prices when they are sold, so obviously they are being bought by people who are enthusiasts, like myself and lots of others on this forum.

I still do not agree with you about donating to them to the V&A.....

These are all the beautiful, attractive, wonderful and elegant places of the world which are famous for the international and historical wonders of the world. These destinations are superbly admirable and pleasurable journey destinations as well.

I was going to say the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam like shasha. I've seen them twice and they are incredible.

Theres a tiny little Childhood museum in Brading on the Isle of Wight (just round the corner) which also has a small dollshouse shop attached.

A lovely little Victorian house in there
