Question Fabulous historical dolls houses

Have any of you seen any of the wonderful dolls houses shown in museums around the world? My favourite has to be Queen Mary's Dolls House at Windsor Castle, it's a real inspiration to anyone interested in the hobby and well worth a visit.

Smile dolls house museums.

I have visited both maple street, Hever Castle and Leonardslee gardens. Leonardslee Gardens doll house display in West Sussex, is really inspirational. The detail which has gone in to the rooms is amazing, and with working pieces, ie lifts with people in, train sets moving, people sewing etc it is fascination in itself it is well worth a visit. I spent a very enjoyable 2 hours just going round the dolls houses picking up ideas and wanting now to have more houses. Of course you can also visit the gardens and stop off for lunch / afternoon tea as well. It is well worth a visit, highly recommended.

Hi everyone,

I went to the museum of child hood several years ago, sadly I can't remember where it was .......I will update this post when I ask my husband...........but that was wonderful, it was full of all the toys that children years ago use to play with and the history that went with them all. There were some dolls houses there but it was before I was interested in them. They still facinated me though and some of the detail for the age of them wqs wonderful. A good place to go........if only I knew where it was .............watch this space for an update on where it was !

We went to a place in Battle a few years ago that sounds very similar but neither me or mr twirl can remember what it was called ! The only problem was seeing all the old toys made us feel very old ! Now we have the added problem of forgetting the name of the place we feel positively ancient

Hi Well I never we hope to go on a trip to Hever castle with my club, although not until Sept.
But Battle is just along the road from me and I have seen Yesterdays World but never actually gone in. There I can go at any time when can tear myself away from my DH
