Hi Cinderella,

You're probably right about the photos. Silly me not to think of that. I'm hoping because we're going early on in the season that the place wont be mobbed and we can actually get near enough the house to see it properly. They might even have some miniatures in The Shop!

You're right about the book - I keep dipping into it.

Hi DM

You will have to take copious notes, or take a recorder with you so that you can then turn those into details for everyone!!!

Hi everyone,

It's only through reading this thread that I just remembered I had the Windsor Castle 'Official Guide' on my bookcase, so I pulled it out and just sat having a look at it while having my dinner

It shows the Dolls' House with three men standing by it, so you can really see the scale of it and how massive it is - what a dream to have something likw that eh? I can't believe it has WORKING lifts WORKING water system, and lights!

It has a gramophone that plays and the tiny wine bottles in the cellar actually have vintage wine in How cool is that?!!!!!!!!!!

... Given the size of it, I'd imagine they were afraid of her falling off the stepladders trying to reach the top

If I remember rightly you can buy postcards in the shop. We used to do this when we had a dodgy camera and weren't 100% sure the pics would come out OK.This was in the old 35mm days, wherever we went on a trip we always bought postcards just in case.

Default Auction for Queen Mary's Dollshouse book

I thought you might be interested in this bit of information I came across today:

There is 1 of 10 copies of a book printed for Queen Mary's Dollhouse Library in 1923 coming up for Auction - it is Horace. Quinti Flacci Carmina Sappica in brown Morocco 35mm x 25mm fitting into a brown morocco box by Riviere & sons. This is being auctioned on 22 April at Dreweatts, Donnington Priory Salerooms.

Don't all rush at once ladies.....the guide price is £20,000 to £30,000!!!

Hi Sasha,

That'll be my copy then - I'm off down there a week on Friday, I can just collect it and bring it back with me. I can then put it on public view in the library on Emporium Island. We'll view it then buy coffee and tea from the tea shop, go for a stroll in the gardens, past the bridal shop, the pet shop, the bank, etc.etc.etc....................lol

Hi Shasha

My daughter has a library in her dolls house, she saw the one in the guide book about Queen Mary's Dolls house but I think that this one coming up at auction will be far too expensive
