Default Built my first fireplace

Thought you might like to see the fruits of my labour

I have completed my first wooden fireplace this weekend - it just needs painting and a brick back behind the fire grate.

I've shown it as the model and then in situ in my dining room. I'm very pleased with the results.
The hardest part was doing the mitre joints for the skirting to the uprights. I had to have a few goes as I'd either get them the wrong way round or the piece would be a bit long! I'm sure there's a fool proof way of doing them.

That looks fantastic. I don't know if there is a foolproof way of doing mitreing - just experience. You must have been beaming like anything when you looked at it finished. Isn't that flooring spectacular as well.

Yes, you're right! I was thrilled with how it's turned out.
The flooring took a bit of time as it's the iron on floorboards with veneer pieces from the guy who does all the venere flooring. I can't think of his name right now but he made up a custom order for me from a design I did and it worked out pretty well.
