Hello there,

I have just joined the forum after purchasing the Magpies ;). Not sure when I'm going to get the time to build it as I still have Montgomery Hall and Basement to finish  It has been a couple of years since I spent time on it so thought it was about time I moved back in and got on with it. My plan is to have it furnished before Christmas............I'll keep you updated!

I'm sure the Magpies will keep in its box until a rainy day (plenty of them!)

Looking forward to hearing about all your projects.

:)

Hi and Welcome to the Forum, I am sure you will enjoy it on here, we are quite a friendly bunch, most of us are very quiet and retiring, especially me and Carol.
Other people are very nosy, they will ask for photos of your Montgomery Hall and Basement, and when you start it, Magpies. Please post photos as soon as possible. Thank You.

Ann

Thankyou all for your warm welcome.

I certainly will post piccies up once it has its furniture in. The reason it came to a halt such a long time ago (apart from the children) was being unable to find any fire surrounds to work with the phoenix white metal fires I made to go in there.

I have (or should I say my hubby) put chimney breasts throughout. The chimney breasts have been roughted to accepted the fire surround and separate basket. My hubby has tried making me one but it looks more Tudor  He's having another go.....bless him. Once the fire surrounds are in I can get the skirting in..................then my little family can move in.

I have lots of ideas for the Magpies. I dothink it will be a food shop of some sorts. can't make up my mind.

I'm hiding it when it comes because my husband has spent so much time with Montgomery Hall. At least Magpies will not need painting.......Once the Hall is up and running I thought I would produce the Magpies.............just like magic lol

Thankyou all once again

Welcome to the Forum...............I have Magpies (well, its called Makepeace & Thring) now...we have had quite a few discussions about it on this forum, as it can have its tricky moments, and if you are thinking of putting doors in then let me be the first to tell you that only Georgian style doors from DHE fit and the cottage style doors do NOT fit!...as I found out to my cost!.. and as I wanted mine the exact colour of the one in DHE catalogue - it took me a while to find that this can be matched by Dulux (I am sure you are already aware) they will mix small tins and the smallest they do is enough.

I also, due to a small lapse in concentration, put the middle floor in upside down which resulted in me having the April Cottage layout, but I am quite happy with that now.

Look forward to seeing your progress, when you get to it!

My hubby just laughed this evening when it slipped out that I was going to be the proud owner of a shop. D He's wondering where I'm going to put it. "I'll find somewhere, " I said.

Thankyou for the tip shasha. I was thinking about putting doors in it so you have saved me quite a bit of time hunting them down.

Winstone's Mum................Ours might be renamed once a little family moves in or I might refer to it as the "Hall".

Its been great getting to know you all. I have a challenge to get the Hall sorted now.

My Montgomery Hall is Victorian. I sure I will have the odd thing that is completely out of ere but mainly Victoiana.
