Hiya Kate,

Use a plasti-kote spray on the windows and doors, got from any DIY shop
Is this house made of MDF? If so you can either use an MDF primer or seal the wood with 50 x 50 PVA glue and water first
You can paint either with roller, brush, sponge, it’s totally up to you and what you feel comfortable using. It does take several coats before things look right so don’t panic after the first coat!!
Sand between coats if needed, otherwise no

Just take your time and work slowly, if you prefer to paint before the build, do that, if you prefer to see it up first do that but remember if you use the plasti/kote spray watch where the spray goes giggle, yes it’s happened before!

St Vales Got it right Hi St... All wood benefits from a size i.e. PVA and water use a soft brush and let dry well before next coat I have used in my time Acrylics, posterpaint, emulsion ans sandtex if you want a render Tetrion fine surface filler is good rough it up a bit but remember your scale 1 inch to 1 foot keeps proportions right . All have worked well there are no rules its your house do what you like thats the beauty of this hobbyI put windows in last of all spray them its easier ..a bit fiddly else Treat yourself to a good book see Dolls house books thread....Send us pics as you go I am at same stage on my tower figuring out how to do granite blocks at the moment....Welcome to the Forum hope this will not be your last house ...

I have just painted a house for the first time and I was abit worried about it and it has turned out, I used a 50/50 mix of PVA and water, let that dry and then I used a sponge roller and done one coat of white ceiling paint and then I used eggshell paint and put that on with a roller, it takes 16 hrs to dry between coats and I gave it a little sand between coats, I have just put a third coat on and I am happy with the results, it is nice even colour with no brush lines. I got my paint from H*******E and you pick your colour off the charts and then have it made up in eggshell, it cost about £9 and I have just about half of a small tin.

Forgot about the windows, I used a bathroom and kitchem paint in a light cream, I found it dries very fast, I use that as an under coat and then I gave it a sand then used the plasti-kote spray for a nice even finish.
