Hi,

I'm new to this forum and have tried to find the answer to my question, founds lots of really interesting stuff but not the complete answer. Please help me someone. :o

I have just brought Stratford Place and The Bakery, going through the kits I have realised that there is a huge amount of staining to be done. Is there anyway you can spray stain? I have used the plasti-cote before but that was white or cream for windows and stairs etc.

I have thought about buying an airbrush spray gun thing but don't know if wood stain can go in this. Is wood stain the easiest thing to use?

Lots of questions I know its just i've waiting a long time to afford this kit and don't want to mess it up now.

Many thanks

Hi sally.wiles,

I think you can get a spray gun specifically for wood stain........hubby used a small hand held one on our real shed.......I think he got it from a diy store.......:D Hope this helps.......:o

We have a similar spray gun to Jill but wouldn’t do my houses with it, it would certainly be a very messy job I would have thought! I have stained a few bits and found ordinary wood stain and a brush no bother at all. It does take time to do and dry yes but as long as I get the effect I want time doesn’t matter to me!

Hi Sally,
Welcome to the forum. Personally I don't think spraying stain is a good bet-on such small things it will go everywhere and run. Plus stain needs a bit of a "rub". I have used a coloured satin varnish on all my wood in my house, using a small brush, it takes a little time but the finish was good. Took 2 coats to get the colour I wanted. Or like Val said, stain with a brush, or even a cloth. Just my opinion.:)

Hi Sally

Thank you, the answer is as I though best to do with normal wood stain and a brush. Might just do one wall of bits at a time so don't get mixed up too much.

My kids would love to mix them all up!!!
