Hi, would just like to introduce myself. Im new to the forum and to building a dolls house, though its something ive had on hold for about 20 years. I finally aquired a dolls house, and bought a basement thats too big for it, but Im enjoying making bits of furniture, and making it look good. I came across this forum googling for bits n pieces to help with the making of the dh, and thought it looks very friendly and informative. thanks for letting me join, will probably be asking for help in no time.

aw thats a shame about the basement....you'll have to buy another house to fit on it!!hehe
there are lots of places online tat you can buy basements from if you wanted one and they have different sizes and tell you what size house they will fit.
maybe someone on here will know the name of your house when you put the pics up later!! will look forward to seeing it! what kind of plans do you have for your house?? is there and era that you like?? i'm doing a georgian house at the moment....its my dream house and is going to take years i hope as i want to take my time and make it really specail!

Hi Ann, no its not still in box, after being there for two years, it now has pride of place on my tv stand ( tv was given away two weeks ago). Its been assembled for those two weeks so far. I did add some pictures in the home sweet home thread. the house was bought for me, and long ago i had bought and collected a dolls house fortnightly magazine. during the time of collecting, I did make some furniture, of which is now in the house. Ive so far done all this blind, barely having a clue where to start, now I have found this forum, Im sure Ill get things done a little more orderly.:)

Hi Jj
I collected the Del Prado house and furniture too. It is still unfinished. I have done all the rooms but haven't finished the staircases. It was a nightmare to put together, did you find that? The furniture was really easy.
It wasn't big enough for me so I made my own basement and made that into a very big kitchen and a washing room.
Did you finish your Del Prado house, or did you only make the furniture?

Hi Ann, I actually got the four rooms together, and the attic if i remember correctly, when it came to the roof, it didnt fit, i sat for hours day after day for many a month wondering how I was going to get this house together. I didnt have a clue. then life seemed to run in the fast lane for a while, and house got put aside, then I was having some windows fitted, kitchen fitted and rewiring done, and some thinsg had to be shifted to the garden shed for a whiile. unfortunately the dolls house over the years got damaged in the garden shed, but the furniture was wrapped and boxed before it went in, and when I found I had time on my hands this september, it was time to get back to something id only dreamed about. but yes, that house was a very bad fitting, and i still have every piece and have been thinking maybe i could do a shop or two? and the furniture.... some id made, some still in wrapper it was bought in. ive just sorted out the 8 light fittings, and wondering if i can install into the pink house. ooo this is getting to be long winded, but im enjoying it all.
