Hi Everyone!
In my infinate wisdom I bought some wooden maghogany flooring from ebay. It is the type which comes as wooden strips and you lay it down yourself. The strips are about 10'' long x 1'' wide are 0.7mm thick. I of course thought this would be a great idea and look quite effective - until I went anywhere near it with glue that is. The moment glue goes anywhere near it the damned stuff curls up at the edges( I've tried PVA and wood glue). Then I thought I would sparingly glue it to some photo paper then put it under a heavy weight to flatten it out but even that doesn't look right. The idea was that once it was on a backing then I could cut it out to room size and slot it in. has anyone else dealt with this stuff and if so then how did you do it?
Thanks Arlene

:DHi Arlene,

Have you tried sticking it to mountboard first.......cut in the shape of you room.......then lay this onto your floor.....would be easy to remove too....if you decided to change your mind later.....Also try sticking it down with contact adhesive instead of PVA and wood glue......these glues are water based and may be making it curl.....

Hi Arlene i had that problem, you have to use a contact adhesive, like UHU or Bostick i did it with pva and like you it all curled up, i complained to the person i got it off on ebay cos it didnt actually say what to use, and they sent me out more hope that helps you honey x

Hi Arlene,
That sounds like the stuff Winston's Mum had the same problem with I think. She'll probably be along later to help! I think the problem is water based adhesive, most of them recommend impact adhesive or double sided carpet tape.

Hadn' t thought of uhu, but that should do the trick all right. I would have liked to have varnished it but God forbid it will have the same effect. Anyone got any ideas to make it nice and shiny or should you just not go there!!!!:D

Actually it was our Amchoor that told me all that in the first place lol

I learnt from when my ceilings wouldn't STAY UP.....using PVA was holding it as long as my patience was lasting.......NOT LONG.....hehehe:D Contact adhesive worked straight away.......:D
