I am getting my cousins young daughter a chad valley house for Christmas, and doing it up for her before the great day. As she is only just 6, and her brother is a destructive 4 I thought that it would be best to start her off with something simple that could be decorated to her tastes. So today I put in the order for the house, and then ordered papers, rug, and bits & bobs from DHE.

I think I may have gone a bit over the top... I am sure that I have got more paper than is wanted for this house, the thing is that I wanted to get in supplies so that I could make a start the moment the house appeared. Therefore I have had to guess it... always fatal. My sister is scheptical about the papers I have gone for, she says rightly that we have a stock-pile we could use... I thought something new would be nice. I have left carpets, hoping that the horde will provide (we bought up stock from a local business when it folded), mainly maroon and green, but that should do.

I'm not sure what colour to paint the house at the moment, if paint it at all... I do know that my god-daughter graffitti'd her house till it was painted blue and white. That house now looks quite stunning. I think it's getting window boxes for christmas, least that was the hint laid at my door yesterday. So as well as this house and it's pots and pans I'm going to be gardening with milliputt and tealeaves.... The only thing now is to find out the desired colour theme for these flowers. My cousins daughter's house will wait for window boxes for another year... although my aunt may get some for her georgian house as her christmas gift... I've been wondering what to do her too... I had got as far as a 1:12 of a 12 x 12 post bound scrap book..

I'll upload pics as we go along, once things have arrived, :p

Tonight, thinking of ww1 ( I was watching a time team thing on the trenches ), I couldn't help but think how much fun my grandfather would have had from this house and it's trinkets. If we wanted something, he made it. I have a beautiful 4 poster that he made for my dolls - my cat now uses it.... but to bampa that wouldn't have mattered, it's still loved and in use. If he had been about a bit longer I'm sure we (my sister and I) would have had a dolls house made by him, as it was we had a Lundy. My father is dreading this house coming flat-packed, Bampa would have relished it. My sister takes after him, she will doubtless do the build the moment this house comes in the door.... She will also do the lions part of the decoration, leaving me to do soft furnishings, and decoration of the wooden goods.

I have a feeling that I may be buying her brother a fort as his prezzie....So it goes. That I will NOT decorate.;),

Not sure yet if we will be wrapping it up or not. Usually we set them up with a big bow on top, but this one has to be taken some distance before opening so I think we may wrap it, or at least wrap the bits in boxes inside it:D.

Sorry no pics yet. Had problems with both camera and computer... will try using phone.

It is fairly durable but rather light, being constructed mainly of plywood. This has made decorating a difficult task. The wood bends:D. But it is getting there now. I think that we have reached the touching up stage on the paintwork.

Anyhow I will try to get some pics to show you all...
