Hello, I'm new today. I am so pleased to see DHE have a forum. Now I can talk about dolls' houses all day as well as think about them :)
I have been making miniature 'things' for over 30 years, but I have only just bought my first (grown up) dolls' house. Picked it up at the weekend and I can't wait to start filling it up.
Looking forward to seeing what everyone else does with theirs :)

Hi Secret corridor,
You say you make miniature things, Oooooooohh a woman after my own heart, what do you make?, If you don't mind me asking. Only, I love to do this too, in fact...........more for other peolpe, than for me LOL :)
I don't think you can beat making something and then standing back and "saying I did that "...........it may not be very good even:D but it's a wonderful feeling,..........

Hello and welcome. What house is it that you have? When you get going with it you should post some pictures in the Home Sweet Home part as m-o-m mentioned. Love to see other peoples houses.

Thanks for the welcome!
I have made allsorts - long-stemmed roses, books, beds (not tried the bedding yet), food (not very successful), and more recently things out of paper like this pet carrier.
I just love making stuff!

Hi Secret corridor,
Well done to you, I love to make things and would make more if I could get off this Forum...........sharen are you listening LOL:D
I've done bedding (see accessories thread), curtains, bathroom items and recovered the odd chair and stool, but would love to do more............I'd like to tackle making the dolls, wigging and then make the clothes for them............When I was little I spent 3 months in hospital, I was only about 4 or 5 and I used to make clothes for my dolls out of tissue paper, the nurses used to bring it in for me, that and a budgie my mum and dad found in a tree in the grounds of the hospital  ........... I think it has stemmed from their..........
Don't forget to post some pictures on in the accessories thread........as sharen knows, I'm nosey.......LOL :D...............I think she is too........but don't tell her I said that LOL :D

Secret corridor, the little pet carrier is so good. At first glance, i thought it was the real thing, but then noticed the hand in the picture. Its very clever. So you should have lots of little things to add a personal touch to your new house.

hi all
ive also made little bits ive tried the filmo my cabbages wasnt to bad lol the breads the easiest. but i gave up and used some to make fishes LOL which never turned out very good:(
ive made dolls clothes and a maids outfit well pleased with them...then i found this site where you print lots of things off and make them up saved me lots of money on food boxes ( for my grocers) and hat boxes (when i done bride shop) even printed off some wall paper lol also underwear packets/boxes its a brill site but have plenty ink in your printer lol.......it was time consuming cutting them all out and the toothpaste boxes are so tiny but i managed them and to add a shine to some of the boxes or packets i covered them in selotape which gave the look of what you might get from a proper shop :)
its surprising what you can find surfing when your board lol

Hi Julia,
To print off your own wallpaper you need to go on a wallpaper printie site..........most of them are free......search through for a paper pattern you like and then save it to your computer hard drive, most come with instructions as to how to do it.................. and away you go.............hope this helps

hI, Another suggestion was given to me by a avid mini maker of many years was to cover the little boxes /book prints of web sites with White craft glue. It is clear like selotape and adds a shine but also makes the item firmer. Cost is £1 25 for quite a good amount.

Hi mom Yet another question for you (or anyone who is in the know.) Just noticed that you had printed your own wallpaper (I do tend to miss things on this forum lol) was a while back the above posting I see .:o
Anyway I found a site ( I put on the forum somewhere lol) that has some lovely wallpapers. All eras. It does suggest usuing a "spray sealeant" in case of print smudging when putting on the wall. I have tried to do this a while back useing fine photgraphic paper (nicked from husband). Some was ok and others did smudge not sure why. :(
Whoops am rambling sorry to cut it short.:o My local art shop really were quite helpful did suggest a few sprays, but they were not sure they were quite expensive and I did not want to buy something that was not suitable.
help:confused:
