Website Down!

Dear All,

Due to a glitch somewhere in our systems, we have to conduct maintainence on the website this afternoon.
We hope this will only be a few hours at the most. We will keep everyone up to date via the forum, our blog, our facebook page and our twitter feed, all of which will remain unaffected.

You can of course still order on the telephone by calling 080 00 11 44 11 from the UK or +44 1332 912989 from overseas, or even by emailing us on sales@dollshouse.com with your order.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Website Admin Team.

EDIT -- 1530 on 13th July - Website is now back up!

EDIT - 9.50 on 14th July - Oh dear. Our website is misbehaving again and thus we will have to take it offline for a wee while. Will keep you updated here!

EDIT --- 1340 14th July - Back online folks!

Advertising and Selling

Dear all,

Just to re-iterate again, we do not allow selling or advertising on this forum. If we allow one person to advertise, even if it is to sell a dolls' house, this just opens the flood gates adn reduce the forum from a helpful dolls' house forum to just another place where members are bombarded with sales pitches. That might be a bit extreme, but you get the picture.

We do not host a market place section on the forum due to the legal and libel issues this could create. We'd recommend that if you have a dolls' house or miniatures to sell you use one of the auction sites already set up online to allow you to do so.

This ban on advertising includes links in signatues to shops, ebay listings and so on.

Any posts or threads deemed as advertising or selling will be removed and action taken up to and including banning members. Clearly we hope it doesn't come to that as we are always reticent to take such action.

Thank you for your continued co-operation in making and keeping this the friendliest and most helpful dolls' house forum!

Additional Statement on Forum Use

Okay, I will re-iterate the 'Statement on Forum Use' and some other statements that have been made by us.

1. This is a family friendly Dolls' House Discussion Forum.

2. The threads and posts on this forum can be read by anyone, at any time whether they are registered, or not. We have users of all ages in many different countries, and in many different times zones.

3. A Collector is a collector, regardless of age.

4. An 'Adult Only' forum would be exclusive rather than inclusive and we don't want to start segregating forums and as a result, people.

I hope that you all can appreciate that as a company we are here for the benefit and enjoyment of the entire dolls' house collectors’ community, whatever their age, gender, race or nationality and we have to tread a fine line between letting collectors discuss their hobby with their friends and protecting people who may be reading the forums.

We have been quite clear about why this forum exists and who for, we appreciate the dedication of our forum members, without whom this forum would not be successful.

As a gesture of good will, we will remove all infractions and warnings, which have not already expired, which have been incurred since the 3rd of January.

We consider this to be the last of the matter - the constant posts and threads about the subject are distracting and are not allowing anyone to move on and get on with the most important topic of all - our hobby! Any posts or threads referring to the recent spate of unpleasantness will be closed and deleted. Let us draw a line under it now and start afresh.

Statement on Forum Use

The Dolls House Emporium acts as a facilitator to the forum to allow dolls’ house and miniatures enthusiasts of all ages to share their knowledge and joy in this hobby.

The forum has been set up as a free, family friendly service to the whole of the dolls’ house and miniatures community, the members of which we trust to act with due care and attention to other users. As such, it should always be remembered that anyone can view any post, you do not need to be a member, unless you wish to access the ‘Members’ Only’ section. Posts should remain on topic and any which are considered to be unsuitable should be reported immediately to the administrators who will then investigate.

Unsuitable posts include anything which could be considered racist, illegal, libellous, offensive or abusive.

Anyone who is found, in the view of the administrator, to be posting unsuitable posts or images will receive an infraction on their account. If you gain three infractions you will be banned from the forum.

Spam posters will not gain infractions but will be banned immediately and for life.

Anyone wishing to discuss topics not relating to dolls’ houses and miniatures should go to the ‘’Off Topic’’ Discussion Forum located at the bottom of the forum home page.

Remember! These forums are not moderated and any posts which you consider unsuitable should be reported!

The protection of children

The Dolls House Emporium takes the protection of children very seriously, in both the concrete world and the internet space it occupies. As such we ask all those applying to be a member to provide their date of birth. If they are then found to be under 13, they are required to print out a COPPA form which a parent or guardian must sign and return to the Dolls House Emporium before the applicant is granted access to the forum.

The Dolls House Emporium instigated the COPPA form in early 2008 to help safe guard the younger members of the forum.

Additionally, anyone who is under 18, is highlighted on the forum as a Junior Collector by the pink text underneath their forum name.

More information on COPPA can be found here.
