Hello Kerry

I can't offer a solution to the brush streaks that are already there, if the paint's nearly dry but I find one of those small rollers works well. If you wanted a roughcast, stubbly look then try dabbing at it with the flat end of the bristles. You could try loading your brush with less paint too and just brush out the streaks as you go. Hope that helps.

Hi Kerry,

If you are looking for a 'pebble dash' type look you could also try mixing fine sand into your paint. The grade of sand you choose will depend on how 'rough' you want it to look.

Hope this helps.

Default hi

i found that sanding between coats with a sanding block really helped get the brush marks out.i then purchased the paint with the sand grain but it all looks lovley and smooth on the inside of my house.

Or to make it look like a plastered house, you could stick a tissue over with pva and then paint, the little crinkles can look like plastering marks.

I generally use a mini roller for painting smooth surfaces but use a brush for stonecoating affects!

I have used the dolls house stone effect paint on the outside of my toll house, I had a old paint brush that was ideal for dabbing it on with. I haven't tried using a roller yet but it does sound like a good idea.

Hi Kerry

I've painted the outside of my house and the best solution is to use very fine sandpaper between coats. I used a mini roller and this was excellent and gave a very smooth finish. I did three coats altogether and it was worth taking the extra time. Hope this helps, Karen.

Hi Kerry,
I agree that a small roller and plenty of sanding between coats works very well.
