Default tutorial for making your own bricks

as is always the case with these things, i stumbled upon this very interesting tutorial whilst looking for something else, thought it might be useful for others

http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?im...a%3DN%26um%3D1

for reasons i cannot fathom it wont link to the brick tutorial so, when you click the above link, scroll to the bottom of the page and click ''back to thumbnails'' then scroll down to the herringbone brick picture its a garden flooring with flagstones around the outside, click on that pick and thats the tutorial. theres also links at the bottom of the page to do other stone effects using a similar method

I've played around with the link direct to the right page. It seems to be working for me. My guess would be Google's image frame was getting in the way.

Hi DD Thanks for the link . Think it has been suggested on the forum before as has using cereal packets for tiles.
Don't think have ever seen a pic of the egg box bricks before and I must admit they look quite good in situ. Has made me think again to use them .

you welcome for the link, i found most of the site fascinating but thought these in particular might be of interest to others
the cereal packet ones are not very good because they are too smooth and flat.....i haven't tried these so cannot comment on these ones yet but i will for another project and see what they look like

Hi I must admit to trying the cereal pks to save a bit more of my pension .
But was not really happy with the tiles as you say to smooth somehow. Although I do know a few have been most happy with the effect. But again we come back to each of our house being unique to ourselves . The egg boxes being rough I would think would be more like the street/garden/wall bricks.

i agree totally, and we all have different ideas of what is correct/acceptable. i think it also depends on what you have seen before, for example i was more than happy with my cereal box tiles on the roof of my apothecary, but since tiling stratford i now think the cereal box tiles look less effective next to the real ones
