Good on you! You are doing better than the professionals then. I read somewhere recently that Barbara Moore who does Pear Tree miniatures (gorgeous top of the range stuff btw) is regularly cutting chunks out herself.

vivienne.a.baird, Have now ordered stencils and brick compound. To the disapproval of my wife as she knows that I am a messy worker.

Hello TonyF

Good on you with the stencils. I think you'll find they're good to work with and if you make up too much compound, just put a lid on the box and when you're ready to go back to it, add a touch water and give a good stir. I also found recently that if you make a mistake (not that you're likely to!) but if you leave it till it's dry, you can scrape it all off back into the box, add a little water and you're ready to go again. It's a good idea to have a bit of a dry run on a spare piece of wood just to get a feel for it and to see what kind of thickness you want. You can experiment with different grout shades as well while you're at it.

If you look at my album, I did my Tea Rooms with the stonework stencil and then added a bit character with acrylic paint. I spent quite a lot of time looking at stonework and took a few photos as well. If you blow the pics up, you can get quite a lot of detail from them if you want to do some touching up.

Davidsmum, I don’t think I will have a problem with the stencil however adding detail with paint I will be lost. Your Tea Room looks really good and I hope you are proud of it.

PS How do you add and retain "If at first you don't succeed, persevere and keep the heid!" on your replies?

Hello TonyF

Thanks, I'm pleased you like my Tea Rooms. I stared at an awful lot of walls before doing that!

If you go to the top left of the screen, "User Control Panel", then click on the drop down that says "Edit Signature" - that's where you need to be. I can't remember what happens after that though, sorry!

Hi, vivienne.a.baird my wife does not let me do any thing to do with house work as she does not trust me, so I dont think she will be impresed. However we shall see.

PS Midlothian is a nice part of the world, I lived in Musselburgh for some 12 months many years ago.
