Hi thanks for the quick welcome that is so kind,I have got an old favourite "The Country Store" which has undergone a recent refurb and is now a cake shop and tea room. I am now considering The Wentworth to do as a proper Victorian house with the basement for servants. How about you.Andrea

Hiya Andrea,

Oh cake shop and tea room sounds cool and Wentworth is a lovely house! Maybe you would like to open a forum of your own in 'home sweet home' and maybe put some pic's in for us to look at, we love seeing what other's do! It is easier for us to follow progress too otherwise we bounce all over the place here now lol.

I have several properties now after 5 years into the hobby, my first was Ashcombe Manor which I did characture outside with modern inside. Then I did Chester shops, 4 shops in this one, a florist, a cross stitch shop, a book and card shop and a the estate and travel agents. Have more ideas with this one to do an underground shopping mall in the cupboard below at some point! Also have a Church, a village school and fairbanks (neither started yet lol) and working on Ashworth Grange which I am doing in Georgian. Pic's can be seen in my profile.

Default Dolls house shop in Maidstone

Does anyone know if the shop in the Corn Exchange in Maidstone is still going? their website seems to have disappeared although they are still in some of the diectories.

Is there still a shop called Thumbelina's in Sandwich?

I know we have a thread for Dolls house shops, but I just wondered if it would be helpful - depressing, but helpful - to have a list of those that have closed down. for instance, there are now no shops in Bluewater, and the shop in Faversham , Kent has gone, although its listing is still on lots of websites.

Nothing worse than travelling with miles with silent husband and complaining child, only to discover the shop all closed up and now a Chinese takeaway.!

You are all very lucky to have shops around you somewhere. I do have one but as they are the only shop in the south of my state they charge THREE times what they should. My only option then is to shop online and then pay postage (which still works out cheaper than the shop I mentioned). It makes me so angry when I see poeple taking advantage like that, perhaps I should say something to them. I don't think they sell too much as the stock never seems to change the prices just get higher and higher as they are not selling anything. Crazy!! Perhaps I should have a holiday in England and see all your beautiful shops
