Thanks Kath i will check it when it comes. Would you be able to fit a hinge on the roof panel?

It really is a bad design feature. Thanks for you idea - I will give it a dose of thinking about
Can't you put some "wood beams" into corners of the roof looking like they are supporting it. So you get at least a surface there the panel would rest on and can't fall into the attic any longer

i was thinking of magnets on mine, and, as you suggested, using the chimney as a sort of handle

Kath i have been to Dollshouse mania my local shop today and talking to Bob the owner he has got the Mountfield built. I was telling him about your roof dilema he suggested putting beading all around the edge of part 13 so the roof parts would rest against them and the removable part would not keep falling in. Can you understand what i am trying to say? i am not very good at explaining things in writing lol

Default kitchen update....

Here's a picture of the latest work I've done on the kitchen. There's still lots to do in here but this is the beginning of the look I'm trying to achieve.....Notice the curtains don't match the blue flooring really - well they didn't when I was a little girl and that's the era I'm trying to re create here., it didn't seem to matter in those days whether things were colour co ordinated or not, as long as you were warm, well fed, clean and dry.

I've hung the curtains on a 'wire' as I remember them being hung in kitchens. The cooker I've customised from a washing machine which I bought cheaply, using buttons and card for the hot plates. I made the washing machine from a match pot and a phoenix wringer which was an oddment I bought (part of a kit rest was missing). All the pans were cheap copperware which I've painted.
I need to put 'formica' on the table top, put up some more shelves, add a pulley/clothes airer and a few more bits and bobs. I also want to add a coke stove like we used to have at home. Will keep you updated
