i am quite pleased with how it came out, i am really struggling with the decorative trim on top however, just a case of trial and error until something works i guess.

Hi Sal, Spotted this picture in a magazine this morning, not sure if its any use to you for your thatch roof.

Could you glue the thatch to a piece of light cardboard, arrange the decorative bits (liggers?), then sew them into place using a couching stitch and linen thread through the cardboard, cut to shape, glueing the entire thing in place when you have finished?

I am thinking long straw when I get to it, and would need to do the entire roof that way so that I can get the decorative bits along the edges too. If you can check that it works first....

it does work although i found it easier to mark out the pattern for the thread on the inside of the card then made the holes with a dart so when it comes to sewing through its easier. not that i have done this on mine yet, i am stil experimenting
