i started to work on this for a bit. i stripped out all that had been done except for the carpets because i liked those and was worried they would get damaged if i tried to remove them

i then sat and stared (like you do) and decided that having to walk through the master bedroom to get to the bathroom just wouldn't do so i have decided to make the top of the hallway into a bathroom. its small but everything fits (see pics below).

i also want to have modern looking kitchen with above the counter cupboards, which, given the door from the hallway, plus the side entrance door and also a window and french doors to the garden this was just too broken up. i thought long and hard and came up with moving the french doors into the living room on the right hand side of the house. block up the side entrance door this way works beautifully. i still need to fill a few gaps around the window (see pic below).

i still intend to move the wall dividing the main bedroom and what DHE used as the bathroom (the room at the back on the left, you can see this in the pic above, its the too rooms on top) and make the front room smaller which will then become the kids room. the back bedroom will now house the master b/room and i shall add a small corridoor from the hallway to reach the master bedroom. i might also include an extra door into the bathroom from the main bedroomto give another view of the bathroom as it will be partially hidden by the wall from the front view.

the last job to finish the modifications is the alter the stairs, these will face the other way and have a dog leg, so you go up 2 steps and turn to get to the rest of the steps. hope all this makes sense

Hi Sal, Yes is does all make sense, you seem to have made very wise choices and I think it will work a lot better than the original layout. Will look forward to watching your plans come to life. Good luck.

Hi Sal

It all sounds great. Amazing what a good stare will do.

Anyone reading your post (and not in the know) might think it was a script from a Sarah Beeney programme - lol
