The oven was made in two parts. The 'base' is basically a box made from pieces of foam board with two arched holes cut in the front. This was covered with the same brick paste I used to brick the rest of the bakery (part texture paste, part sandstones paint, part acrylic paint) and the mortar lines were just painted ontop in grey. The upper section was made from air drying clay. I rolled the clay flat, cut out an 'oven' shape and used a toothpick to make indentations (ie the mortar lines) in a brick pattern. I lay the clay over a lump of alfoil so it dried in it's curved shape. When dry, I painted it with some watered down brick paste and painted the mortar lines in the grooves made earlier.
It would probably have looked better if I'd used the same brick stencil I'd used on the walls, but I have trouble making that method work on 3D objects.
