Default Kelly's Cauldron; an enchanted castle

Well it's been far too many years in the planning but I think I am finally ready to start work on my castle!

I have had the main part of the building for about 5 years and the tower for about 2 years and it is just now coming together. As you will see from the photo there is lots of work to be done but that is all part of the fun

The idea is in the lower part of the castle there will be a pub filled with magical folk having a merry time while a princess resides in the tower awaiting her prince charming. The castle shall be full of magic and fairytale creatures. I hope to keep a record of the progress here....no matter how slow it comes

The enchantment begins here!......

Hi mini_monsters,

It certainly looks like you're off to a good start and it makes such a difference if you have a real plan for your property. Not knowing where you're going with a project isn't so good - very time consuming!

Heya,

I love your idea, it sounds great. It's going to be really exciting seeing it take shape.

When I started my house, I made a folder with all my bits of research and ideas (indluding a very scruffy piece of paper with my thoughts and plans from when I first decided to get a doll's house). I've also kept a diary of my progress, which I print out at intervals to put in the folder and a list of everything I've bought, what it cost, and all the receipts. It's worth doing I think, I definately recommend it if you're just starting.

Can't wait to see more photos as you progress anyway

Thanks for you're interest everyone I will update the thread each time I progress with the project, so hope to have lots for everyone to read about (mistakes and all haha)

Oh I know how not having a plan can be time consuming hence why I am only finally starting after many years haha!! I wasnt going to say but this property has been many colours over the years! Now I know the property will become an enchanted castle I do need to settle on a colour scheme but do i choose.......
grey stone - classic castle colour
pink walls and white or gold windows - very princessy
white walls and pink, purple or gold windows - very princessy
purple walls and not sure on windows

Hmm what colour for a magical enchanting princesses castle?

Your castle is looking great so far!!

I'd probably do the outside in a stone look, but make the stone a lilac/lavender grey to look both 'realistic' and a little 'princessey' at the same time. The windows and doors could be a true lilac or lavender, cream, pink, vanillia . . . even a glossy black would probably bring out the colours of the 'stone'

Awww thank you for your lovely words everyone

I have had some wood cut which I plan to build onto the front to give the entrance a larger grander look. The only trouble I am having at the mo is what colour to paint the outside walls and what colour to use on the windows and roof of the tower......I just cant decide
Do I make it look like a traditional castle? a princess castle? or spooky castle?
Now there will be witches and fairytale creatures in there but there will also be a princess so its a hard choice lol
