Default Wartime Mountfield

Hi - I'm new to the forum, but I just wanted to introduce myself -- and show a few pictures of what I've done so far!

I have had my Mountfield for almost a year now. It's still not together! As I'm a total klutz with my hands, I decided to decorate the walls before I put it all together as I can't imagine putting the wallpaper up very well with it all together. I hear it's the best way, but hopefully the way I've done it will look good anyway! I'm very close to putting it together though, hopefully this coming week.

As you will see, I've decided to make the house 'four sided' rather than leaving the back blank - this is because I'm a perfectionist! My dad cut out the extra windows and doors and I've blocked other unnecessary windows and doors (in the dining room and at the side of the kitchen) off with offcuts and polyfilla.

My 'theme' is 1940s war-time, and eventually I plan to have a garden at the back with a sunken bomb shelter and vegetables and chickens (when I have room to display it!)

My six dolls are going to be hand made by Julie at Bella Belle dolls (they're amazing!) I can't WAIT to get them!

Hope to speak to lots of you soon - and have a house in the next few weeks!

HI RB Sounds like you are on your way . Your house is unique to you anyway, but redesigning the back ,makes it more so it looks good . But be aware you will have less wall space inside to add units to etc. . Well done.

Hi both! Yes, the first picture is the back... I'm glad you like it! It still needs to be finished off, I'm not looking forward to painting those French doors! The windows were fiddly enough But I'm glad I did it - I'm a bit obsessed with getting things looking 'real'.

I had thought of that, Coodencat... that was the main reason I blocked off a lot of the other windows, because I was thinking about my dining room going "Oh dear, where am I going to put all my furniture?!" But I have blocked off the rooms from each other, too, rather than having them 'knocked through' as it were, so that gives me some more wall space. I'm just hoping it works out! I can't wait to get it all together and see it now! I'm a bit nervous about seeing the final result - you know when you think "This is the moment of truth!"

I'm also wondering where I'm going to put my socket strip now that the back is a 'working side' - but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it! Fortunately my dad is an electronics-teacher-come-genius-carpenter so if I run into any trouble, I can rely on him to sort it out!

Lovely to talk to you

How about under the house? Do you have a chimney in the house? That's a good way to hide the cable going down from floor to floor
