Runner Beans

I made a kitchen garden for Victoria Villa which was my first house. IT was the first garden I did and contained the very first doll I made called Cyril and it became Cyril's garden.

I made the runner beans using those sticks that come in air freshener jars and criss-crossed them into a framework - just the same as gardeners do. Three sets of 2 sticks joined together with fine wire and one stick across the top, again wired to the other 3. I made the main stems from floral wire wrapped in green floral tape. I think I made a few off shoots and also wrapped it with a bit of old ivy that was too big to use as ivy but great for bushing out a plant. I stuck leaves on cut from green paper with a paper punch. This was the fiddly bit - getting good coverage. I stuck bits of red flowersoft in a few places to represent the flowers and then made the beans from 4 or 5 tiny beads wrapped in floral tape and twisted at each end. These were glued on underneath the leaves. The whole thing was stuck into airdrying clay with dried coffee grounds and bits of weedery.

Cyril is still sitting contentedly in his garden.
