Default The Dickens Book Shop & The Miniaturist

Sharing another project that I made between October 2018 and May 2019. This one is called The Dickens Book Shop & The Miniaturist. It is a scratch built building which consisted of 3 room boxes that I designed. This house was built like that as I had to share my progress of the project on a TV Show here in Malta.

The first room box consisted of The Dickens Book Shop. The books are handmade and fully readable.

This is fabulous, Rebecca! I love the patterned panels and the warm wood. As for the books.... all hand made AND readable? Amazing, would have taken me forever. I am still working on the 8 zillion books I will need to fill up my library...

So... on TV, eh? If there was a link to view this, it would be great.
If not, would it be possible to see some stills of your work in progress?

I am also wondering if you are a one woman campaign to promote minis in Malta! Have sales of dolls houses, etc, increased since your Museum and TV appearances?

Thank you so much Lily Putt. Yes all the books are designed by me, fully readable and illustrated. It did take me a while but definitely worth it.

After the launch of My Miniature World Museum things have really moved on. Had several tv interviews, made it on the national tv news, newspapers, magazines and a regular guest on the Life & Style TV show for a whole season. Now I will be back on the show for another season starting in October and ending in June. Yes I am proud to say that my dream did come true and it was more than I ever expected. I am the only Maltese lady that does promote dolls houses here on the island.

Here is one of the still pictures during one of the shows.

If you would like to see the video clips of the shows and interviews here is the link to my blog where you will find them all listed after each other.

The Miniaturist was another room box that was done during the Life& Style TV Show. It consists of a small kitchen and the miniaturist's room. This one is situated right on top of the Dickens Book Shop.

Here are some pictures of the kitchen.

That is a fabulous kitchen, Rebecca, and I am blown away by the carrots, which look as though you pulled them out of the Earth this morning!

Your photography is very good. It is sharply focused and ends up looking more real than mine, somehow - what is your technique?

Thank you so much Lily Putt, glad you like the food preparation especially the carrots. All the food was made by me using polymer clay.

Glad you like the photos. I have to say I have improved through the years. I make it a point of taking good photos. Believe it or not all the photos are taken with my phone. The import thing is when taken photos make sure you have good light especially natural light and try to eliminate using the flash.

Default The Miniaturist Room

The Miniaturist Room is right next to the kitchen. It reminds me a lot of what I used to have before.
