Default Dolls Direct or Dolls House Builder

Hi all,wow did'nt realise it's been a while since I've on the dolls house forum. Hope you are all well? The reason I came on here is that has anyone got the Dolls House Builder dolls house, what is it like to work with as in the quality of the wood. Has anyone on this forum got Dolls House Direct dolls houses, and what was the quality of the wood to work with. The reason I am asking is because I want to be sure that I will be getting a good dolls house for the money. Hoping someone will be able to help me. Thanks. Pipit

Thank you for your reply Sharon, it's good to know that Dolls House Builder dolls house made it's way to Spain. I have an idea which dolls house I am interested in but I'm still looking. Did the dolls house you brought did it have the cabinet with it, and is it good wood to work with as in painting or wallpapering? Pipit

Hi Pipit. I don't have either of those, but welcome. Look forward to seeing which one you decide on, and what you do with it.

Hi Pipit.

I had a Georgian town house from Dolls House Direct and had no complaints with the quality. It was my first house and very easy to assemble. It came with 'stone' tiles for the front made from MDF and they did take me a long time to sand - the edges were a little rough, but I think that's unavoidable. The whole house was made of MDF.

My current project is made from a Sid Cooke kit, and mostly made of plywood which comes with it's own challenges. Without very careful treatment, the panels can easily warp - as I found out very quickly! I think I would choose MDF next time.

Hope that helps. Happy property hunting!

Karen x

mine is all MDF, when i obtained it had been built...not particularly well and had none of the finishing touches added, I moved an internal wall with very little damage and the quoin stones (wood strips) were easy as were the dormers. No cabinet but did come with optional basement....given the choice I would have chosen one that had a door but with a bit of imagination managed to fit in a faux door....and stairs to basement garden..... house shown in my album bridal shop if you want to have a look

Thank you all for replying to my query on the said dolls houses. I'ts gonna have to be a ready made dolls house either from Dolls House Builder or Dolls House Direct, the one which I do like is the City dolls house from DHD it's got 14 or 15 rooms and the depth wow I could go to town on this one. But I've still got time to do some research, as it won't be until after xmas when I decide. I want to be sure this time that I get the right one. Thanks again. Pipit.
